Welcome · Come On In
This beautiful home impresses right from the start with a two-metre wide cedar door pivoting open into a spacious foyer. The matched interior and exterior door handles have been hand-crafted in the shape of an unfurling koru fern. An exterior river-stone wall is echoed inside, extending for several metres and features two vertical slits which provide glimpses through the double-stud height dining-room to the river-view. The spaces are generous and enhanced by double-glazed floor to ceiling windows and doors opening to the outdoors in virtually every room. Together these have the effect of bringing the lush green outside landscape inside. The earthy colours seen outside have been used in the décor inside creating a very comfortable ambience. From rusty pine-needles to grey-brown river-stone, from dark-green granite to pale grey paint - the end result has synergy. Floors use the same coordinated tile and carpet throughout. See images slideshow above.
An easy relaxed lifestyle runs right through the ground floor - from the large open plan kitchen and family room, through to the separate dining-room and the two adjoining lounges. Whether used as a large family home or for entertaining these spaces are both inviting and functional. One of the lounges features U-shaped seating and functions as a home theatre. The other centres on an open fireplace built floor to ceiling of river-stone. The large dining-room lends itself to fine dining with its double stud-height wall of windows offset by the three French-style chandeliers hung above the slab of granite dining setting. Above, a mezzanine balcony runs the length of the room. The sleek kitchen has extensive granite surfaces and European appliances and room for six-seater family or casual dining. A guest bathroom and separate laundry room with shower are also included on this level.
